So it has been about 5 weeks. It seems that I have been able to kick the nicotine habit. No tongue rings, no patches, just a book. The book is Allen Carr's "Easy Way to Stop Smoking". A candidate for the nobel prize for literature it isn't, but it does contain logic that is working for me. For fear of the copyright sensors, I won't repeat the key steps here. Also, unless you read the book, you won't really get the full meaning anyway. I guess the final point is, the book seems to target smokers that are ready to quit, stopping can't be forced on anyone!
The suggestion for the book came from Sam de Brito, of "All Men are Liars" notoriety. I have heard occasional criticisms of Sam, but from my POV, he is nearly always spot on with his commentaries.
