I love reading. Books have always been a source of inspiration, of companionship. The books I've read each tell a little about me. Sure, everyone responds in their own way, but the range of responses to a certain text have boundaries. "An Equal Music", a brilliant book, deals with love and the joys of music. Compare this to "The Green King", which illustrates the impact of war and world finance. It really is much better than that, but each book gives an indication of the interests and passions of the reader.

Further, reality is only bound by our imagination. Once the idea had been planted, it seems we have an uncanny ability to turn each idea into reality.

Lately, I have been loaned several books from people I know. This provides an interesting dynamic. Not only are they sharing with me a important book of theirs, they are estimating what I need or want in my literary diet. It can be revealing. One of the selection lately was right on the money. Exactly what I needed to read, a style that I relate to. On the flip side, is it etiquette to share a book of mine with them? That would turn the tables, in a good way?

On a less intimate level, that is what BookCrossing can be all about. It is a great idea, and the people involved seem to be above the average. A good filter. I only started so I could clear my bookshelves before I leave. Progress to date has been slow. We are trying to turn the world into a global library, hehe; "Are you such a dreamer, to turn the world to rights?". But of course. Literacy levels in this country are turning to shit.
