I can be a sucker some times. I've spoken of Lacrimosa before. Today the SMH had their turn:
I rushed out after work and bought it. There is something about the haunting qualities of a good soprano that tickles my spine.
So a couple of weeks ago I was asked to go to the ABC Choir of the Year Concert. It was the best musical performance I have ever been to. Moments of such clarity and beauty, it took my breath away. In my humble opinion, the leading talent was Concordis. Have a listen to City Called Heaven. Unbelievable, truly. And live, fuck me. Just something else.
So we at Polyphony had our concert at the crypt. One of our best performances yet. Something to be proud of.

Our distinguished guest for the last post was the former PM, Paul Keating. The former PM has been quite magnanimous towards Big Kim recently, very distinguished. I just finished reading his Singaporean Lecture, "Australia, Asia and the New Regionalism". Another couple of gems:
"More important over time, I think, will be where we stand on the larger debate - not about "Asian" or Western values, but about values themselves and what the role of government should be in shaping them."
And this:
"And Australia is singularly devoid of racial problems, be it around Asians or Muslims, or any other categories of persons."
If only it were true...

So where do your aspirations lie then? Towards changing the world through music a la Concordis, or changing the world through politics a la Keating?

Sorry Nicole, I don't think it is on the web.

Anon, great question. Ideally I would attack three directions, music, politics and engineering. I have an ALP membership form on my desk and I looked at the course requirements for the Con this week. "Are you such a dreamer, to put the world to rights?" Yes Thom, I think I am.
