Two main developments have partially re-ignited my interest in my current position. (This post brought to you by the Werribee RSL, woohoo*.)

Firstly, I had a visit from the resident professor last week. He came to discuss some new infrastructure for automotive research. I could play a large part in the development of a new laboratory space. The attraction here is that the work could combine two undergraduate interests; control systems and automobiles.

The second development was attending, again, the F-SAE competition. This year I have a closer rival for the "youngest faculty advisor" guernsey. That has nothing to do with my renewed excitement. Last year I identified the main obvious weaknesses of our team. I was able to address thos issues, that's good. Unfortunately, these extra resources have not resulted in significantly better result, that's bad. I have learned, albeit slowly, that the primary weakness is project management, that's good. I knew this through the year and prompted planning and work to combat this, which didn't wor, that's bad.

Weighing up all the good and bad, we're one year closer to a competitive team.**

How does all this impact on the flight from Sydney? What are the motivations anyway? Time will tell (so will I).

* Hence the greater lack of entries.

** The final result was actually quite good.
