Well, I've moved again. Just down the road this time. But it did make me think of all the other times I've moved. Throughout the duration of my life, I've lived in many places. Wodonga, Canungra (x2), Portsea, Melbourne, Canberra (x2), Wollongong (x7), Sydney (x6). Up and down the eastern coast.

Without a doubt, I've had the most trouble finding a "groove" in Sydney. Every other time I find myself in a new location, I seem to find a niche. Sydney is resisting all my efforts to find the places where I fit. It is a difficult task, to be sure. My stay in Sydney has been relatively short, less than 3 years. I still don't have a good handle on the geography either. Outside of work, I've not yet made any new friends. While some of my friends have also moved to Sydney, for one reason or another, we seem to have drifted apart. Is it just that Sydneysiders are snobs? Is it that Sydney is too big? Discuss.

There has been no necessity to make friends this time. Is that part of the drive to venture out, overseas? Will moving to a friendless environment motivate me? I wonder how much of my persona will remain, in a new environment. We'll see.
