Before I really knew anything about music, there were certain pieces that spoke to me. I might have only heard phrases, but they managed to get stuck in my head. I remember singing myself to sleep, at a young age, with Fur Elise and Beethoven's Ninth. Fur Elise hasn't really passed the test of my time.

Initially it was really only instrumental pieces, but as I grew older the lyrics of songs became important. Relating to lyrics was one factor determining the value of a piece of music. I can let the music determine my mood, energy and attitude. It was particularly gutting to have my collection pillaged last year.

Now, my music tastes can be best described as diverse. Most of the pop/rock shit is alright, don't mind hip hop either. Big fan of dance/trance, for the right times. A bit of an old school boy with the jazz and swing. Truth be told though, it is the classical stuff that really moves me, the instrumental stuff persists. My Ode to Joy perhaps.
